5:30am this morning !

I woke up instantly with the ultimate marketing idea for KRB (Kings River Blues). I received two more rejection letters today and one from Sony. I aslo worked on the introduction for KRB. I'm happy with it. I'll email it to couple of friends and family for feedback.

I received two more generic rejection letters today.

A Quotation from Mr. William Chew

author of Nameless Builders of the Transcontinental Railroad.
" There are several reasons for documenting this study. First, it is my intention to increase the public's awareness of the contribution made by Chinese toward the development of the United States. Second, this book is written to honor my grandfathers, Chew Wing Qui and Woo Sing Jung, and to embrace, with pride that I am a descendant of coolies. Third, I want to express the personal gratification I derived from the research and analysis of the Central Pacific Railroad payroll records and the subsequent discovery of detailed, unpublished historical data that indentifies these men as individuals, confirming what I believe that "everyone is someone."

On My Way To Hanford On A Rainy Day

I'm not a Buddhist, but Kings River Blues embodies " Bodhichitta" which means the mind dedicated to attaining enlightenment in order to be able to benefit all sentient beings most effectively.

This is from the book entitled Transforming Adversity Into Joy And Courage
edited by Thubten Chodron.

I received 4 rejection letters today from various literary agents. One agent stated " You have solid ideas and are tackling important issues." However, she still rejected my proposal. I have to agree with her though, the issues that I'm tackling are important. I spent 5 hours in a library in Hanford, thumbing through crumbling yellowing news papers, blowing off the dust of heavy hard cover books based on the local history of Hanford. Blacks were invisible in the 1920's, 30's and before. The only time there was mention of a black person, was when the "negro" committed a crime or was wanted by the authorities. I owe it to my great grandfather and great grandmother, my aunts and uncles, my mother,my grandparents, and other black families whose ancestors were pioneers and movers and shakers in Kings County!

Writers and creative people when you have a vision, move forward and put into action. You'd be amazed how things just fall into place. I envisioned Kings River Blues in my head. I put the energy out there and it's already coming back. An agent has offered to consult me on Kings River Blues and a professor has agreed to write the foreword for the book.
